If Satan is evil in Heaven and in the Bible it says there is no sin in Heaven, why did Satan sin then?

WOW!!! That is a very awesome question! And, to be quite honest with you, I don’t know the answer to that question and I don’t think anyone, other than Jesus, really knows. But, here’s what I do know to be true:

God absolutely hates sin. He cannot even be in its presence.
There is no sin in Heaven.
Satan was once God’s most perfect angel named Lucifer and he was cast out of Heaven because he sinned against God.
A third of the angels also sinned and were cast down to Earth with Satan.
Satan is also known as the “accuser of the brethren” because he gets to go to the Throne of God and point out the sinners to God but Jesus protects us by saying, No, Satan, you’re wrong, They are covered by my death.” (Job 1:6-12 and Revelation 12:7-9 tell some of the story!)

So, there are a lot of bible scholars who believe that there are different realms of Heaven and that when Lucifer sinned against God it was in one of the realms of Heaven but not Heaven itself. There are also some Bible scholars that believe the Throne of God isn’t in Heaven but just outside Heaven which would allow Satan to come close to Heaven without being able to get it to Heaven itself.

We have to remember that God is all-knowing, all-powerful and ever-present. He has an unstoppable plan for us and for Satan. Don’t forget…Satan is not God or the opposite of God. He is a created being just like you and me. God created Satan. Satan cannot create life, he is not all-knowing, he is not all-powerful and he cannot be in two places at once. Never, ever think that God and Satan are equal because they are not.

In fact, if God wanted to, He could make Satan disappear with just a thought. But, God has a plan for us all, including Satan, and God’s plan is perfect and unstoppable. We cannot ever imagine or begin to know why God does some of the things he does or allows some of the things he allows. We will never know, until we go to Heaven, why God allowed Satan to sin.

How does God know you've asked Him into your heart, because there may be thousands more asking?

We have a very awesome God. He is all-knowing, ever-present, and all-powerful. It is hard for us to fathom God's supremacy because we try and think of him in human terms. But God is so much more than we can even imagine! And, remember, God knows every hair on your head and his thoughts of you outnumber the grains of sand! You were fearfully and wonderfully made and you are a beautiful work of art to God. He knows, without a doubt, that you've asked Him into your heart and, even more importantly, He rejoices at it!!!

Because God is all-knowing, He sees everything that happens. He also knows everything you think, even before you think it! He knows the content of your heart so, as an example, if you lie to your parents or to your friends you might be able to fool them but you can NEVER fool God. He knows everything you've ever done, everything you're doing now, and everything you're going to do in the future...pretty amazing, huh? That is so hard for us to understand because, again, we try and compare God to us. But, remember God is the creator the universe and everything in it, including the planets, the stars, this planet, animals, plants...and most, importantly, YOU!

If God and Jesus are the same and God can't see us because he is so holy, how can Jesus come and not make God not holy because they are the same?

Hmmm…this is a very well thought-out question. And, to be honest, I’m not quite sure what you are asking but here goes:

First of all, God and Jesus are the same person. In fact, God is a…get ready for a new word…triune being. Triune (pronounced tri-yoon) means that God is three separate and distinct personalities in one being. He is God, the Father; God, the Son; and God, the Holy Spirit.

This was one of the hardest things for me to grab hold of when I first became a Christ Follower. But, here’s a simple way to explain it: your dad is a father to you. He is also a husband to your mom. And, he is also a teacher in T.R.A.C.K. One person but three different and distinct personalities. Does that make sense?

Okay, the next part of your question suggests that God can’t see us because He is so holy. I think this is where the confusion is setting in. You are correct in that God is holy and perfect. But, God is also all-powerful, all-knowing and ever-present. Not only that but God is aware of everything and can perceive everything too. So, God can see us. Not only can He see us, He knows everything about us! God knows every little detail about you all the way down to the number of hairs on your head and the thoughts in your brain! He is with you all the time when you are awake and when you are sleeping.

So, now that we know God can see us, let’s look at the last part of your question. You asked, how can Jesus come and not make God not holy because they are the same? Remember, Jesus, even though He was a man, lived a perfect and sinless life. Jesus was holy just like God. I know that is hard for you to imagine because it is hard for me to imagine! I mean, c’mon! Jesus was a carpenter! You don’t think at some time when he was building something He didn’t hit his thumb with a hammer and get mad at the hammer??? But, you know what? According to the Bible, Jesus was without sin. He was perfect.

So, Jesus never made God “not holy.” And (here comes another confusing part), remember what we said about God earlier, that He is a triune being? Because God is holy and perfect and without sin, Jesus is also holy and perfect and without sin. And, because Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit is holy and perfect and without sin.

So, just to wrap this up in a workable package, Jesus is God and is holy and perfect. He came to earth as a man but is still holy and perfect during His life. Because Jesus is God but is also a man, He sees us and experiences all the same emotions and feelings that mankind experiences and feels. Jesus, all the way up to His death on the cross, never sinned but took the sins of the world on his shoulders.

Now picture this. Here is a perfect, sinless man who ends up taking the sin of the world on His shoulders and dies on the cross for us. Here is a man who was with God His entire life but who had to be separated from God in order to take that sin for us because a holy and perfect God can’t even be in the presence of sin. Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, experienced the separation from God that sin creates. This is the same separation from God that occurs when we sin against Him. Every time we sin, at that very moment, we are separated from God.

But, here’s the great news. Jesus redeemed us. All that means is that Jesus traded His life for us so that we wouldn’t perish but have eternal life. Because He gave His life for us, He provided a “bridge” for that separation from God. Remember what Jesus says in John 14:6? He tells us all that, “I am the truth, the way and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

How can God be everywhere at once?

Great question,! Sometimes it’s so hard to understand God’s awesome abilities and powers. The problem is that us lowly, puny human beings try to create God in our image rather than the other way around!

But, let’s remember one thing…there is only one true God and we need to see Him as He is, which is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful) and omnipresent (being everywhere at the same time).

In answer to your question, God's omnipresence means that He is present everywhere all the time. Look at what the Bible says:

God said through Jeremiah, “Am I only a God far away? Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him? Do I not fill heaven and earth?” (Jeremiah 23:23,24)

In Psalm 139 David wrote, “I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.” (Psalm 139:7-12)

In Matthew 28:20 Jesus told us, “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Bottom line, there is no place where God is not. God is not only present in all places but God is fully present in every place. I have to admit, this kind of thinking is wayyyy beyond my brain capacity! But we must try to understand that God is able to be "present everywhere" because He is Spirit. He is not confined to a three dimensional existence. God is infinite which means He has no beginning or end. God is not limited by human categories, human experience, or human reason.

But, and here’s the best part: knowing that God is omnipresent not only means that you don't need to feel alone, it means you don’t need to be afraid. No matter what you are facing, you face it with God at your side.
